The first thing that a job applicant will look for in a job vacancy is the information telling them whether or not they’re suited for the job. Knowing whether or not you’re qualified for the job will help lessen the anxieties and, in turn, boost your confidence for that much anticipated first job interview. Most entry-level accounting jobs require a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field for applicants and any professional recognition achieved through certification, licensure or from further studies are also considered as definite advantages. Special expertise and proficiency in accounting and auditing using computer software can increase your chances of getting better offers from your potential employer. Overall, knowing your qualifications and showing your interviewer that you are the perfect candidate for the position will certainly help you in securing your first accounting job.
In many public firms, accountants become increasingly responsible for management of other accountants and acquiring new accounts instead of pure accounting work.

Since all of these tasks require a high degree of teamwork, leadership and charisma, the accounting job interview will seek to uncover these attributes in addition to technical accounting skills. For that reason, someone preparing for an accounting job interview needs to spend a little bit of time working on their response to questions outside the realm of accounting. Their first step should be to do some research and discover exactly what the accounting job they are pursuing will consist of, in the short and long term. This research may be done with a combination of published and personal investigation and should uncover four elements; the daily duties, the desired results of the job, the personal characteristics the company desires; and the future career paths available to the position.

Business is really like a game. Almost ending up between sport and war. Strategy needs to be employed to be able to win in a battle or a sport. Right? And in playing any sports, you need to acquire the best equipments so that you can have a fair chance or even a greater advantage over the opponent. Much like in business, you need to sport a crisp, business like image. It can really help you get the job you desire and the benefits that should come with it. It is inevitable that certain things in life, we ca not control. The very thing that we can control is how we should look, our image. You should avoid the pitfalls with these tips. You can de stress your image.

Attract. Look business-like and stylish,at the same time. Wear a well coordinated outfit.
Organize your wardrobe. Separate business attire from the casual ones. Keep at least three complete outfits that are ready to wear and pressed.
A tailored jacket is your armor. Long sleeves are a necessity. Wear socks or hosiery. This is non negotiable.
Shoes say a lot more than you stepping on them. They are a strong indicator of who and how you are. Polish them and make sure they are in mint condition.

Adding to the stress are illegal questions which can suddenly sneak up during the course of the interview. Knowing how to identify what types of questions are illegal is an effective way of diffusing the tension immediately.

Majority of interviewers are unaware that they are posing illegal questions and will readily withdraw them once tactfully pointed out to them. Bottom line is to learn how to deal with the situation in a diplomatic manner so as not to agitate the interviewer.

No wonder more people opt to work part-time jobs taking several in a day for more profits while keeping the ability to turn jobs when needed. Most take whatever is available yet accounting is a very skilled job that extensive knowledge of the system is needed for one to become effective and amiable for hiring.
Shifting from one dedicated job to part-time jobs also allows the freedom of better time management but being so time dependent, it is more suited for the young at heart. It also becomes a nice place to brush up or learn new things allowing you to get more for less time. It also has the advantage of eliminating the boredom that often accompanies desk jobs for you get to face different people. It can get hectic and time management is a must to balance your life, no use earning a ton of money when you don’t have time to enjoy your life.

Accounting resume must contain relevant information’s such as: analysis experience, operations management skills and fiscal expertise. Moreover, you should also highlight the milestones you achieved like; organized accounting practices, managed debts and increased revenues (include the numbers if you may). Furthermore, don’t forget to include your career objective, also be brief and concise because you may want to elaborate on these things during the actual interview. Including other skills such as being computer literate adds more weight to your qualifications. Your resume should reflect all of these characteristics so that employers will easily spot the difference.

Most people dread job interviews. However, with a bit of preparation, the experience can be very rewarding.

Most interviewers tend to ask similar questions during job interviews. All you need to do is find out what those questions are and prepare some answers beforehand. After you do that, have someone role play the part of the interviewer and ask you the questions. That way, you can practice your answers to interview questions so you can be more relaxed at the actual interview.

Some of the most popular interview questions asked during an initial interview are:

1.	Tell me a little bit about yourself.
This is difficult for some people. If you are unsure of what to say, you might want to ask the interviewer what they would like to know about you. However, most interviewers want to know things about you that would be relate to the position. Try not to ramble on. Keep your interview answer short and informative.

2.	What do you feel are some of your strengths?
When you begin to think about your strengths, think about some of the aspects of your personality and character that would be an asset to the job. Don’t just mention one, but focus on three or four. If you are applying for a sales position, you might mention that you enjoy helping people. If you are applying for an accounting position, you might say that you are very detail oriented.

3.	What is your greatest weakness?
We all have weaknesses, so you will need to come up with something for an answer. Be as honest as possible, but then emphasize what you’ve done to overcome it. For instance, if delegating jobs has been hard for you in the past, mention what you have done to overcome the problem – perhaps taking a course in how to be an effective manager or a course in time management skills.

4.	What do you consider to be your greatest success?
Choose an example from your past of which you are particularly proud. In your interview answer give specific details about what you did, how you did it, and what the results were.

5.	How do you handle stressful situations?
List some stressful situations in past positions and explain how you handled them. Give them some ideas of some strategies that you have successfully used, such as making a to-do list.

6.	Why do you want this position?
This is where researching the company will help in your answers to interview questions. Bring up some of the successful traits of the company and stress how you’ve always wanted to work for a company with those traits. Emphasize how your skills and qualifications mesh well with the company.

7.	Why are you the best person for the job?

Here is your chance to sell yourself. Emphasize your strong points – i.e. you are a dedicated employee, a fast learner, an enthusiastic person who hits the ground running, etc. End it by saying; “I know that you will have no regrets when you hire me for the position.”

While no one knows exactly what questions will be asked during an interview, the above are common questions asked by most employers. With a bit of work, you can prepare yourself so that you can approach the interview with confidence and enthusiasm. That confidence and enthusiasm may just get you the job!

When interviewing accountants for a job in your company. You should always remember to focus on their actually real-world experiences as an accountant.

Some interviewers may be sidetracked and ask about the candidate’s academic performance or his experience as an employee in general. But a crucial part of the interview process are the questions that revolve solely on what they have done as an accountant. Always remember to ask these questions. Make them as specific as possible and try to ask questions that relate to situations you foresee your accountant to handle in your company. These are the actual questions that matter when interviewing accountant candidates.
